It honestly is the best place on earth and we loved everyone minute of it. We have made friends that will last a lifetime and created some amazing memories. We wouldn’t have changed any of it for the world. One memory we will never forget is sitting with the entire camp watching the sunset over the lake every Friday night on Shabbat whilst we sang songs. This is just one of the amazing memories that we are thankful that camp gave us and we wouldn’t have been able to have this experience without the incredible help of JCUSA. I’m so grateful to have met so many different people from different backgrounds, and I can’t thank JCUSA enough.”

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. This was the first year we did a raffle which was a great success, and we raised £200+ for our chosen charity, which financially helps campers get to camp who may not be able to afford it. We are now looking to plan our next event in the first part of 2018 which will hopefully raise even more money for this amazing cause.

Galit went to Camp JCA Shalom for Session 2 and was in a unit called Tasc. This is what Galit had to say about her first camp experience upon returning back to the UK:

This past summer, I was a camper at Camp JCA Shalom in Malibu, California. I spent 12 days making friends, doing fun activities and I couldn’t have wished for a better experience! Before flying, I was nervous. I didn’t know anyone who had done something like this and I had no idea what to expect.

As soon as I arrived at camp and met all my fellow campers, my nerves settled. Everyone was chatty and fun and making friends was easy! My highlight of the trip was going sea kayaking on the overnight. We also did other fun things like horse riding and going to the pool everyday. Being the only English camper there the Americans fell in love with my English accent and would ask me to say words daily just to hear how I said it.

Part of my unit was doing a project around camp and ours was re-doing the gaga pit. My counsellors were all so nice and not only were they in charge but they became friends as well.

It was an amazing summer and I am so glad that I decided to go.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][dt_fancy_separator separator_color=”custom” custom_separator_color=”#000000″][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_btn title=”Continue to Page 2″ size=”lg” align=”right” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jewishcampsusa.com%2Fabout%2Ffall-2016-newsletter%2Fwinter-2018-newsletter-ii%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
