This Privacy Policy applies to the personal information that we (JCUSA) and/or our interviewers (“Interviewers“) collect about you. Throughout the policy Jewish Camps USA may be referred to as we/us/JCUSA.
Where we refer to the Jewish Camps USA website we mean www.jewishcampsusa.com. Where we refer to the Program we mean the Jewish Camps USA program, where individuals take part in the Camp Counselor Exchange Visitor Program working at summer camps in the USA, individuals are officially hired to work at a Camp by senior camp staff, Camp Directors.
Read this Policy to make sure that you understand our processes and how we manage your personal information.
Jewish Camps USA Ltd (“JCUSA”) collects and processes personal information in order to operate the Jewish Camps USA Program and related services.
We only collect personal information that is necessary for the purposes of recruitment, placement, visa processing, safeguarding, insurance, and program delivery.
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We may share personal information with Interviewers, Camps, Camp Directors, visa partners, insurance providers and other trusted third parties where necessary.
Some personal data is transferred to organisations based in the United States for the purposes of operating the Program.
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary.

Your reasons for wanting to work at a Jewish summer camp
Any relevant religious requirements
Information about whether you wish to work at a day camp or alongside a friend (where applicable)

Details of any medical conditions relevant to your participation in the Program, including medical history, vaccination history and any disabilities
Emergency contact details
Once you have confirmed your place at a Camp, you must also provide:
Passport information and proof of address for background checks and visa processing
Details of three educational and/or professional referees
Signed supporting documents required for J-1 visa processing
Your Camp contract to allow us to process visa documentation, including DS-2019 and SEVIS
When taking part in, or after completing, the Program, you may also provide:
Feedback, comments or complaints
Updated contact details to enable post-Program communication
Some of the personal information we collect is considered “special category data” under UK GDPR, including information relating to health, medical history, religious requirements, and criminal convictions.
We only collect and process special category data where it is strictly necessary for the purposes of the Program and where permitted under data protection law, including for safeguarding, insurance, visa compliance, and protecting vital interests.

The information we process depends on your interactions with us, with our Interviewers, Camps, Camp Directors and with the Jewish Camps USA website. We may share your personal information with third parties where it is necessary in order to consider you for the Program or to place you with a Camp, where required by law (background check, medical insurance and visa), or where we have another legitimate interest in doing so, that is not revoked by your interests and rights.

Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we take appropriate safeguards to ensure it remains protected in accordance with UK data protection laws, including the use of contractual protections and other lawful transfer mechanisms where required.
We may transfer the information we collect from you to Camps, to The JCC Association, Odyssey International Group, LifeTraveled and other relevant third parties based in the US. We do so as it is necessary for us and for Camps to consider you for the Program, and so that you can take part in the Program.
The Program for working at camp is not directed to anyone younger than the age of 17.
Jewish Camps USA does have a Camper program which is open to children of all ages. This is for children, and their parents, interested in attending camp as an attendee and not to work.
Parental consent is required before any data is collected. This must be signed off by a parent or legal guardian and Jewish Camps USA will be in touch with the parent or legal guardian about the child’s participation on the Camper program. The other sections in this privacy policy are still relevant to this and all data will only be shared with necessary parties, such as the Camp and all data will be shared securely.
All personal information that you provide to us is stored securely.
We limit access to your information to those of our Interviewers and other third parties who have a reason to know.
